Trainspotter v4.0

After two years of furious research and hard programming, Stan Trousers is at last poised to release the successor to his seminal train-spotting simulator. Trainspotter v4.0 is ready to depart from platform 12!

Initially, v4.0 appears similar to its predecessor. The opening shot of 104110 shunting through Swindon Central is all too familiar. But when, instead of that ghastly freight horn, there is a genuine blast of 104110 music, you know that Trainspotter v4.0 is a quality simulation.

(In fact, nearly 90% of the horns have been taken from period recordings - making Trainspotter v4.0 the most authentic spot-sim yet.)

You can now choose from over 800 stations to spot from, dating back to 1927. As before, each station is beautifully modelled in real-time 3D graphics, allowing full access to prime spotting points. In addition, subways and bridges have been modelled, which really makes the adrenalin surge when you realise that you're on the wrong platform to catch the inbound freight due in two minutes!

Most of v3.4's irritating glitches have been solved (the 6-8-4 'Pride of Skibbereen' no longer appears at Sidmouth Junction during 1938) and weather effects have been introduced.

Overall then, Trainspotter v4.0 stands head and shoulders above its rivals and I thoroughly recommend it for hours of absorbing spotting. Right - I'm off to platform 4 at Doncaster to see if I can finish my collection of 1964 Type 54A diesels. Only 23564 and 23045 left to go. See you there!

(Note - I've yet to see this on the shelves, for some strange reason...)
